The Post Library is pleased to feature digital photographs by Joplin photographer Mark Schuster.  The exhibit represents a dramatic turning point in his work in that they are all digital images, taken from March through July of 2009.  Schuster uses the freedom of the medium to pursue new avenues and try out innovative ideas.  He has always been drawn to portraiture, and in the new series, he is progressively driven to simplify.  He eliminates potential distractions until all that is left is the raw subject-matter.   Always experimenting, however, he sometimes eschews simplified forms for a highly structured choreography.  Whether simplifying or expanding, Schuster clearly enjoys the freedom of digital photography to explore and experiment.
