Mixed Media
by Niki Hughes
The October art exhibit at the Post Memorial Art Reference Library features multi-media works by Niki Hughes, art teacher at Iva E. Wells Middle School Seneca, Mo. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri Southern State University.
Hughes started drawing at a very young age, so a career in art was an obvious choice. She likes to work in two-dimensional media--charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. She experiments with various themes, but her favorite subject is portraiture. Faces fascinate her; she finds artistic beauty in all people, from young to old. She is also intrigued by the bright colors of Native American Indians and the motion and draping of fabrics during dance.
